Viv sings in a range of styles, with interests in Acapella, electronic music (Amorefish), free jazz and the jazz standards

Keys: Peter Bragge

Peter Bragge is a classically trained pianist who attained his Licentiate (L.T.C.L) at the instrument in 1991. Since then he has focused on jazz and blues  and currently plays in a soul band in addition to Blue Ceiling. He also teaches piano privately part-time.

Fretless Bass: Adam Fforde

Adam has been playing electric bass since the 1970s, playing in a range of genres. For jazz, he shifted to fretless in 1990 after playing in Double Standards, a London electric jazz quartet of the 1980s.

Percussion: Barry Stillman

Self-taught, Barry is an old-timer with a fondness and flair for subtle brush-work (using a scaled-down drum kit) and percussion (hand drums), both of which he loves to apply to jazz, blues, bossa and Latin /Cuban grooves.

HISTORY

Blue Ceiling was founded in Canberra as a quartet in 1994 (Viv Waller on voice, Adam Fforde on bass, Don Lambert on drums and Yechiam Marx on keys, later Nick Scofield on guitar)

We then reformed in Melbourne in 2003 as a trio: voice (Viv), guitar (Jim Swainston) and fretless bass (Adam).

And then re-formed as a quintet in 2008 ...
