Recording notes:
Mixed with 'soft' Master; aimed to get good voice quality, clarity in the drums and keys in a 'pocket' in the mix.
Bad leakage, of drums especially, from voice mike. EQ - a little off the bass, + compression. Some distortion - wrong setting on recorder. Keys are DI EQ massive cuts on hi and hi-mid. Bass is DI EQ massive boosts to hi, hi-mid and, surprisingly, bass. Drums used 2 overheads (condenser) - no compression, oddly; snare - standard presets; bass - tried to 'spike' low and hi - did not do too much work - presets. Could have cut the voice mike during the keys solos (sounds good) but did not bother.
Impressions: shows the b/k/drums in 'pockets' under the voice, then coming out in the gaps, good coming together (not always but obvious when it goes awry eg too much key 'continuo' (organ grinder) under the voice.
Basically good.
